What is a Licensed Life Settlement Broker?

A broker is a person or organization you pay to look for insurance for you. However, that is different than a life settlement broker. Although many states do not offer license for life settlement brokers, this term generally refers to a licensed life settlement broker, life settlement viatical broker or a life settlement agent.

The life settlement agent or life settlement viatical broker is someone who negotiates the sale of a policy between the owner and one or more providers. The life settlement agent or life settlement viatical broker works on behalf of the policy owner for a fee or commission.

Typically a broker is not an attorney, financial planner or CPA who works in any other professional capacity; he or she works strictly with insurance on behalf of a policy buyer or owner.
